Summary[edit]

Description
English: Pair of cannon, Bitton House, Teignmouth Rather lost among cistus bushes, this restored pair of cannon flanks the south entrance of the house. The nearer of the two has a plaque reading: "Cannons brought home from the siege of Algiers 1816 by Lord Exmouth of Bitton House, Teignmouth." The plaque on the other explains: "These cannon were reconstructed and presented to Teignmouth U.D. Council by Morgan Giles Ltd. 1st. September, 1964." Morgan Giles were a versatile company whose boat-building yard on the south side of the harbour is now occupied by the Morgans Quay flats.
