Summary[edit]

Description

In the garden next to the pond I built a castle with 2 tunnels, made of roof tiles. A tunnel has a concrete floor made of street tiles and the adjacent tunnel has a floor of earth. Both tunnels are covered with earth and then with coarse sand. To that, to anchor everything firmly, there is a layer of split. For years it has been a popular place to shelter from heat and cold. In the winter the salamanders, frogs and toads, keep there hibernation in friendship. Now with the extreme heat I make the castle, in the morning, occasionally wet with collected rainwater from the rain barrel. The thick layer of sand and earth holds this well and gives cooling. This morning one of the residents came out to catch some food between the pile of rocks
