If the trouble happens to be on theGrass Valley-Alta 60 k. v. men go fromthe power house to Dutch Flat on snow-shoes and then change cars to a saddlehorse and ride to Bear River If the rivercannot be crossed with a horse Colfax isnotified and men are sent from Colfaxup the ridge to patrol on the Grass Valleyside of Bear River. In case it becomesnecessary or advisable for men to remainon this section of the line late, they willfind a shelter house which has been pro-vided near the end of the Alta Districtsupplied with provisions, line material,etc. When a snowstorm is accompanied bya heavy wind it drifts so much snow intoditches that they block in spite of allthat man can do. But this kind of astorm gives less trouble on the lines be-cause this snow does not stick to thewires. Snowing at a temperature ofabout 33 degrees with no wind is whenthe wires become loaded until they, orrather the snow sticking to them, are sixor eight inches in diameter. E. T. Convention at Coronado The third annual convention of PacificCoast Section, National Electric LightAssociation, was held at Coronado, April30th to May 2d, inclusive. It bears thedistinction of having been the most repre-sentative held since the section was or-ganized. The conventions of the Elec-trical Jobbers and Contractor-DealersAssociations taking place concurrentlywith the major organization, the elec-trical men visiting Coronado had an op-portunity to exchange ideas with repre-sentatives of every branch of the elec-trical industry. The papers were diversified as to topicand of unusual interest.
