Au centre du tableau, le Seigneur, dans la mandorle et assis sur un arc-en-ciel, est auréolé du nimbe crucifère. Il tient en main le livre ouvert. La tapisserie ne suit pas en cela le texte de l'Apocalypse : Je vis ensuite dans la main droite de celui qui était assis sur le trône, un livre écrit dedans et dehors (V,1). De part et d'autre, les vingt-quatre Vieillards viennent se prosterner et déposent à ses pieds leurs couronnes d'or.
