仅仅4年之后,

1935年7月,长江中游再度发生特大洪水,

自鄂西、湘西的武陵山和大巴山,

到长江中游清江、三峡、汉水中下游,

都处于暴雨笼罩中,汉江溃堤决口,

一夜之间淹死数万人,江汉平原近成泽国。

由于荆江地区长期被淹,

当地还流传了一句歌谣,

诉说连年洪灾中的生活:

“沙湖沔阳州,十年九不收。

若是一年丰收了,狗子不吃红米粥。”
