Summary[edit]

Description
English: Pictured is a C-17 GlobeMaster during Operation Blacktop at RAF Brize Norton.

Operation Blacktop is an airfield snow & ice clearance action - keeping the airfield runways and taxiways open twenty-four hours a day seven days a week in all weathers.

The C-17 Globe master, along with TriStar, Hercules and the new exciting Voyager, based at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, provide the ability to move equipment and personnel swiftly around the world for both military and humanitarian operations, making best use of the advantages of air power – flexibility, speed and reach.
