Summary[edit]

Description

OpenStreetMap GPS database visualisation, adjusted for population.

This is a follow-up to <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/stevefaeembra/7051613199/in/photostream">this visualisation</a>.

GPS points were gridded into 1x1 degree squares. The colour represents the number of GPS points per person - by dividing the number of GPS points in each degree square by the estimated population in that square.

Dark brown areas have lots of points with a small population. White areas have fewer points, or have a lot of points with a larger population.

Used a 10% random sample (280 Million points). Grid squares with no population have been hidden.
