Suomi: Kuvassa on Oltermanninsauva 1800-luvulta. Sauva on kiertänyt Alavuudella. Sauvan päässä on kotelo, jonka sisälle laitettiin viestejä.
Oltermanni oli kylänvanhin, joka piti ns. oltermanninsauvaa hallussaan ja pani sen kiertämään kylää kutsuessaan kyläkokouksia koolle tai tiedottaessaan muista asioista kuten aita-, oja-, tie- tai palotarkastuksista. Lisäksi oltermanninsauva oli arvonmerkki, joka korosti kylänvanhimman asemaa kyläyhteisön johdossa. Sauva on esillä mediamuseo Rupriikissa Tampereella.English: Alderman was the honorary title given to the oldest man in a village. Alderman's staff was both symbol of power and also a communications device.
The staff is on display at the Rupriikki Media Museum, Tampere, Finland. |
