Title
Old People's Home, Magill - Interior of Laundry
Description

The Old Folk's Home situated in Magill opened in 1917. Sometimes referred to as the Old People's Home, it was the State run institution for needy elderly people and replaced the outdated facilities at the Desitute Asylum on Kintore Ave in the city. The new Home accommodated around 350 people in bungalow-style dormitories for men and women, married accommodation and infirmary wards. The up-to-date steam laundry and kitchen were separate. The 20 acre site had panoramic views of Adelaide. (Register, 28 February 1917, p4). The facility operated until 1986.

GN01780 to 1784 all printed back to front ( G Brooks) - These were printed right way round in Parliamentary papers. Also note that descriptions written on negatives are right way round instead of reversed (G Brooks)- Taken for Public Works Department Report, 1916 (G Brooks)
