Description
English: Old Man and Child, c. 1840. Engraved by Pikao. No title on plate. Pikao [(Engraved by) Pikao] at lower left, Lahainaluna at lower right. Platemark: 8.7 x 13.8 cm (3 7/16 x 5 3/8 inches). Sheet: 11.9 x 16 cm (4 11/16 x 6 1/4 inches). Copies located: BPBM, fine; HAA, good; HMCS, very good. The head of a bearded old man faces the viewer, a child's head turned to left, and two arms and a hand are depicted in various positions at right. The source of the drawing or plate this is copied from is unknown. While it has the look of a text plate, no Lahainaluna or Honolulu publication having this image is known. (Forbes 2012, p. 127)
