Col-onel Harmar Secretary. However laudable the objects of theorganization, it appears from a letter of General Irvine toWayne in April 1784 The Society of the Cincinnati is nowbandied about in this quarter, and held up as a growing evil ofvast importance—in short as the forerunner of the entire loss ofliberty.
