Summary[edit]
DescriptionOdoviciuc's flag of Soviet Marmaroshchyna, February 1945 (reconstruction).svg |
English: Soviet-style flag of Marmaroshchyna (Maramureș), used during the attempted annexation of the southern part of the region, which is located in Romania, to the Ukrainian SSR (and the Soviet Union). Designed by Ioan Odoviciuc, the self-proclaimed president of Marmaroshchyna Republic in February 1945, and reconstructed from generic specifications in Florin Müller, "Tentative de rapt teritorial și de sovietizare a regimului Maramureș în anii 1944–1945", Revista Istorică, Vol. IV, Issues 7–8, July–August 1993, p. 702. The slogan ("Long live the union between Marmaroshchyna and Soviet Ukraine!") is a back-translation from the Romanian version (Viață lungă unirii Maramureșului cu Ucraina sovietică). |
