| Description | This odd and ends store selling cheap shoes and sunglasses, batteries for watches and other assorted paraphernalia was so sombrely quiet! One would expect a shop like this to spill out onto the street with Chinese ladies ushering you in and urging you to buy and doing a bit of sales pitch. Nothing like that here! The vibe was a little too sombre, dull and lifeless for my liking, not quite something you would expect out of an ethnic market! There were no smells of exotic foods cooking or the tap tap tap from the many woks, something so characteristic of Chinese districts elsewhere! (Toronto, Canada, Nov.2015) |
