Tafel 4 – Politische Leiter

Die Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP) war eine in der Weimarer Republik gegründete politische Partei, deren Programm und Ideologie (der Nationalsozialismus) von radikalem Antisemitismus und Nationalismus sowie der Ablehnung von Demokratie und Marxismus bestimmt war. Ihr Parteivorsitzender war ab 1921 der spätere Reichskanzler Adolf Hitler, unter dem sie Deutschland in der Diktatur des Nationalsozialismus von 1933 bis 1945 als einzige zugelassene Partei beherrschte. Sie wurde nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs 1945 mit allen ihren Untergliederungen verboten und aufgelöst. Alle Organisationen waren nach dem Führerprinzip aufgebaut und orientierten sich an der Rangordnung der Wehrmacht.

Plate 4 – Political leader (German: Politische Leiter)

  • Service uniform for a candidate leader at the Ordensburgen of the NSDAP (Schulungsburgen, NS-Ordensburgen, "National Socialist Order Castles"), schools developed for elite Nazi military echelons
    • Visor cap (Schirmmütze) of tan-coloured webbed fabric, with a traditional high peak and coloured piping along the top of the crown, as well as above and below the cap band (Ortsgruppe: light blue, Kreis: black (later white), Gau: red, Reich: bright lemon yellow), cap band of khaki coloured wool, visor of dark brown vulkanfibre, chin cord
    • Cap insignia consisting of a gilt NSDAP cap eagle (Parteiadler, "Party Eagle", an Art Deco style German Imperial Eagle clutching a swastika with a gilt wreath) and a separate tri-colour cockade with a black enameled swastika in the center.     • Tunic (Waffenrock): Open lapel cut, single-breasted service jacket for the political leadership corps, in typical brown/tan textile, with four-button front closure, two side pockets, two box-pleated patch breast pockets with stylised (scalloped) button-down flaps, and turned up cuffs
    • Shoulder straps with rank insignia
    • Swastika armband/brassard (Hakenkreuzarmbinde, Kampfbinde)
    • Cap and collar lined with piping indicating the organizational level
    • Cuff title (cuff armband) on left sleeve
    • Shirt, necktie
    • Leather belt with cross strap
    • Nazi Party membership badge
    • Calf-length breeches (riding pants with extra width in the thigh area (Breecheshosen, Reit- bzw. Stiefelhosen)
    • Black knee-high jackboots (Schaftstiefeln)
  • Head of the Reichsleitung in walking out dress (semi-formal uniform) (New regulation: white shirt, white collar)
    • Tunic (Waffenrock): Open lapel cut, single-breasted service jacket for the political leadership corps, in typical brown/tan textile, with four-button front closure, two side pockets, two box-pleated patch breast pockets with stylised (scalloped) button-down flaps, and turned up cuffs
    • Collar patches/tabs (Kragenspiegel) with rank insignia
    • Swastika armband/brassard (Hakenkreuzarmbinde, Kampfbinde) with rank insignia
    • Collar and collar tabs lined with coloured piping indicating the organizational level
    • Brown shirt, necktie
    • Nazi Party membership badge on tie
