Summary[edit]

Description

The edge of the massive Harding Ice Sheet as it spills over to form Northwestern Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. This mass of ice moves six inches a day down to the ocean, where we sat in a ship gobsmacked at the immensity and power of the thing. In 50 years it's likely that the ice here will have retreated back beyond the lip, leaving nothing but rock visible from the ocean.

The blueness of the glacier ice is really quite unreal.
