The Pacific Coast Company was organized in 1897, and comprised several existing organizations, most notably the Pacific Coast Steamship Co., Pacific Coast Coal Co. and the Pacific Coast Railway.

Nowell/1212 Fourth Ave/Seattle, USA Typed on verso: View of Lake Union showing Northern Pacific belt line--shore lands beyond trestle (Lots 13, 14 & 15, Blk. 92, Lake Union Shore Lands) with 150 feet of frontage along outer side of trestle and extending average distance of 225 feet beyond, owned by Pacific Coast Coal Co.-- intended to improve in the future with wharf and coal handling facilities for deliveries to large surrounding industrial and residential districts and coal of small vessels operating on Lake Union or through the Lake Washington Canal, which connects Puget Sound with Lake Washington via Lake Union.
