English: Looking north at the intersection of Utah State Route 51 and East 800 North in Spanish Fork, Utah with Mount Timpanogos in the background, April 2016.
Prior to 1992, this intersection was known as Maggie's Bend, with road heading west (now East 800 North) being know as Maggie's Road and the road heading south to SR-147 (now SR-51) being known as Child's Road. Utah State Route 156 began at US-89 (Main Street) in Springville and continued south (on what is now SR-51) and then south-southwest to this intersection before heading west to Main Street in Spanish Fork. Because SR-156 curved at this point, traffic turning north did not stop. In 1992, the section between this intersection and Spanish Fork Main Street was removed from the State Highway System and section north to US-89 and south to SR-147 was designated as SR-51. The former bend in the road became a T-intersection. |
