Summary[edit]
DescriptionNissan Toiler Fire Appliance (14170955983).jpg |
English: A rare old beast here - the museum website informs me that it is a 'Nissan Toiler', but there are very few results on Google for that - in fact the only photos of Toilers are from New Zealand, and one is this very photo! There are also other photos from my stream that appear on the results page too...
Anyway, it seems this is an early Nissan truck, the design of which appears to be copied off International who had a very similar-looking truck. Back then the Japanese manufacturers were still copying Western designs, but it was becoming less common by the mid 1970s. Operated at some point by the Glenorchy Volunteer Fire Force, at Glenorchy, Central Otago. |
