Description
Latina: Nicolai Copernici Epitaphium Fruëburgi in marmorea tabula, D. O. M. R. D. Nicolao Copernico Toruniensi artium et medicinae doctori canonico varmiensi praestanti astrologo et eius disciplinae instauratori Martinus Cromerus Episcopus Varmiensis honoris et ad posteritatem memoria causa posuit, 1581. Obiit anno M.D.XLIII. die XXIIII, Maii.
English: Text of the original epitaph for Nicolaus Copernicus that had been erected in 1581 in the cathedral of Frauenburg (Frombork) by bishop w:Martin Cromer (1512-1589). The original in the cathedral has vanished in 17th century wars. In 1735, a new epitaph was added, see File:Nicolaus Copernicus epitaph.PNG
