back to thestarting line. • In putting the shot, the boy stands withhis right foot on the rear one of the two linesindicating the seven-foot circle/ with theball balanced on his right hand at his shoulder.(See Plate No. 15.) From a crouching posi-tion, weight entirely on the right leg, hetakes a skip forward and then, as quick as aflash, he twists in the air, landing with hisright foot just back of the front line and fac-ing in the opposite direction to that facedat ^starting. As he twists in the air, heshoots his hand out and up, straight from hisshoulder, putting the shot as far out as hepossibly can. In this exercise also he shouldremember that a projectile fired at 45 degreestravels farthest. (See Plate No. 16.) Two mistakes are common in putting: 1. Pausing after taking the skip and beforedoing the twist. This loses all the advantagegained from the skip. 2. Slinging the ball, w^ith arm extended,instead of putting or pushing it straightout from the shoulder. (See Plate No. 17.)
