Description
English: 11 December 1969. The New Zealand Army Roman Catholic padre, Chaplain Ray Stachurski, administering the last rites to 55613 Private (Pte) Robert Buchan, D Company, 6RAR /NZ(ANZAC) (The ANZAC Battalion comprising 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and a component from the 1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment) in a clearing near the Company Headquarters after his body, wrapped in a hutchi, was brought on a stretcher from the contact area. Pte Buchan was killed in action during Operation Marsden when 6RAR /NZ(ANZAC) searched for and found a significant enemy logistics complex on Nui May Tao, a 2,000 foot hill, in the north east corner of Phuoc Tuy Province on the junction of Phuoc Tuy, Binh Tuy and Long Khan Provinces.
