English: Soldiers pose after winning first-place trophies in the New York Army National Guard Combatives Tournament, held here on July 27. Combatives is a combination of Judo, Jujitsu and other techniques which enables American troops to prevail in hand-to-hand combat. The 1st Battalion, 106th Regional Training Institute (RTI), organized and held the tournament, and winners may have an opportunity to represent New York State in the All Army National Guard Combatives Tournament to be held at Ft. Benning, Ga., in 2014. The first-place winners are, back row, from left: Sgt. 1st Class Stephen Palmer, middleweight, 466th Area Support Medical Company; Staff Sgt.
