Harrington, new WPA Administrator, was the first witness today as the House appropriations Committee opened hearings on President Roosevelt's request for $875,000,000 to keep about 3,000,000 unemployed at work until June 30. Harrington, right, shown with Rep. Edward T. Taylor of Colorado, Chairman, said after testifying that a cut in the deficiency relief appropriation to $5000,000,000 would mean 'very drastic' reduction' in relief employment, 1/6/39
