Description

"New Orleans, La. and its vicinity." 1863 "Bird's Eye View" of New Orleans looking down the Mississippi River.

Notes: Many period details shown, but much is clearly not very accurate in this artist's imagining. The distance down river from the City to the Gulf drastically shortened. The dramatic curve of the river at Algiers Point has been straightened. Placement of some landmark churches and squares in the city is wrong.
