Summary[edit]
DescriptionNew Dock Inn pub (site of) 40, St Marychurch Street, Rotherhithe, London, SE16 - geograph.org.uk - 1602981.jpg |
English: New Dock Inn pub (site of) 40, St Marychurch Street, Rotherhithe, London, SE16 This was a two storied corner pub standing at the junction with Rupack Street, now occupied by the four trees. First recorded in 1860 and held its licence until 1930, when, in its latter days was known as the 'Flea Pit'. From 1930 until the mid 1960's it was 'Jacks Cafe', dining rooms for lorry drivers and carmen, run by Jack Edwards. I entered the place in the early 1960's and it was tidy and clean. The two buildings form St Marys Estate and in the background can be seen the 'Ship' pub. |
