Stinging nettles Urtica dioica Somehow, despite my general clumsiness and tendency to accidentally always do exactly what someone just told me not to do, I managed to not get put any part of my body in contact with the stinging nettle plant. Despite its danger, it is, of course, popular as a foraged food. But you should not forage from Discovery Park, due to the smallness of the park. I asked someone who was stung how it felt and she said it felt somewhat like really bad pins-and-needles from a limb falling asleep. I think someone else on the walk tried the fern trick after being stung and said it helped. |
