Description

Nazi uniforms, Deutsches Historisches Museum, Berlin

English: Uniform tunics (Waffenrock) and jackets for members of miscellaneous organizations and civil services of Nazi Germany (Third Reich, Dritte Reich) 1933–1945 on display at Deutsches Historiches Museum in Berlin 2018:

1. Dienstrock eines Forstdirektors des Deutschen Staatsforstdienstes; Uniform of a forest director of the German State Forest Service 1936/1937. Wool.

2.Waffenrock eines Führerantwärters im Range eines Hauptmanns auf den NS-Ordensburgen; Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP, German Nazi party) with "NS-Ordensburgen" (Nazi elite schools) in cuff title/Ärmelband. NSDAP membership swastika armband. 1939. After completing labour and military service, young party members had the possibility of being trained at one of the three elite military schools (NS-Ordenburgen) that opened in 1936. Here the state and party elite were to be groomed.

3. Dienstrock eines Hauptabteilungsleiters des Diplomatischen Korps; Dress tunic of a senior department head of the Diplomatic Corps (government official). 1939/1945. Rank insignia on cloth patch sewn to lower left sleeve of service uniform jacket, showing a stylised German state eagle (Reichsadler) combined with a swastika, adopted as national emblem (Hoheitszeichen) by the Nazis in 1935, etc. (see "State Organizations Collar Tab and Shoulder Board Identification Guide" at germandaggers.com.)

4. Dienstbluse eines Oberststurmführersdes NS-Kraftfahrkorps (NSKK) mit Armbinde; Dress blouse with armband of an Obersturmführer of the National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK). 1939. Cloth. Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps (NSKK, National Socialist Motor Corps). When they branched off from the Storm Troops (SA) in 1934, the NSKK had about 10,000 members. The aim of the NSKK was to instruct adults and youths in the use of cars and motorsycles. Emblem of the NSKK on diamond shaped sleeve badge/Ärmelrauten. Rank insignia of NSKK-Truppführer on collar patch/Kragenspiegel. NSDAP armband.

5.Tracht des Bundes Deutscher Mädel(BDM); Uniform of the League of German Girls (BDM), girls’ wing of the Hitler Youth. 1935/1945. Kletterjacke/Kletterweste (light-brown short-waisted jacket/four-pocketed warm tunic) of the BDM. "Südost Oberdonau" on triangle shaped regional sleeve badge. Cotton, ivory nut, leather. The BDM offered attractive leisure activities. Many parents disapproved of the physicsal education as too permissive. Training in the household arts and racial ideology aimed to prepare the girls for their materal role.

6. Dienstanzug eines Stammführers der Hitler-Jugend (HJ). Leader of Hitler Youth. Rank insignia for Oberstammführer on shoulder strap and 104 for HJ Banne Chemnitz. "Ost Ostpreußen" on regional badge. "HJ-Streifendienst" on cuff title. Hitler Youth armband (white stripe on red and black swastika on white HJ diamond).

7. Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF, German Labour Front). Emblem on shoulder strap.
