Description
English: Photo taken at the Lofoten War Memorial Museum (Norwegian: Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum) in Svolvær, Norway's largest exhibition of uniforms and smaller items related to the Second World War and the German occupation of Norway 1940 – 1945:
  • Leaders'/ingenieer leaders' uniform of the Organisation Todt (OT)
    • Tunic with OT paramilitary rank insignia of OT-Haupttruppführer on collar tabs (Kragenspiegel) and shoulder straps (Schulterklappen), and a swastika armband (Hakenkreuzarmbinde) , "Org.Todt" leader sleeveband, and a round trade insignia cloth patchc (axe etc.) on left sleeve.
  • Uniform of a leader or officer of the Reich/State Labour Service (German: Reichsarbeitsdienst, RAD) in Nazi Germany (the Third Reich):
    • Peaked cloth service cap (Tuchmutze, "Arsch mit Griff") with RAD emblem (sheaves, spade head, swastika). Traditional farmer's style hat (althochdeutsch Spessartmütze).
    • Tunic (Waffenrock) with pockets, cuffs and closed collar. Earthbrown-coloured with chocolate brown collar.
      • Paramilitary rank insignia of Unterfeldmeister der Reichsarbeitsdienst (a RAD rank roughly equivalent to an Oberfähnrich) on shoulder straps (Shulterklappen, Schulterstücke) and collar tabs (RAD style Litzen braids on Kragenspiegel, Kragenpatten )
      • Spadeshaped patch on the upper left sleeve with battalion and company numbers
    • Gorget (Kragenspiegel, Brustschild) with Arbeit adelt ("work/labour ennobles") RAD motto and "swastika-on-shovel" RAD emblem
    • Medal ribbon bars:
    • Badges and pins on left breast pocket (pleated patch pocket with buttoned, scalloped flap):
      • Golden Party Badge (Goldenes Parteiabzeichen), Nazi Party (NSDAP) pin for members who had registered numbers from 1 to 100,000
      • Gautag Ost-Hannover 1939 pin
      • Gausieger 1938 Hitlerjugend, a Hitler Youth/DAF Gau (German state) level 1938 national trade competition victors badge
      • Wasserkuppe-Rhon 3. Internat. Luftrennen 1940, National Socialist Flyers Corps (Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps NSFK)pin
    • Swastika armband (Hakenkreuzarmbinde)
    • Emsland district cufftitle (Ärmelstreife). This cuff title was worn by units assigned to the Emsland project (Emslandkultivierung), a reclamation operation for marshy land in northwest Germany.
    • Crossbelt ("Sam Browne belt") with RAD emblem on belt buckle
    • RAD dagger/hewer (Haumesser) in scabbard on hanger
RAD forces helped org.Todt in German occupied Norway during World War II.
