Description

Икона 'Рождество Христово'

Россия, XVI в.

Икона "Рождество Христово", написанная в XVI в., входила в так называемый праздничный ряд иконостаса, включающий иконы с изображением сцен из жизни Христа и Богородицы. Иконография сюжета "Рождество Христово" сложилась ко второй половине XVI в. На этой иконе лаконично изображено несколько сцен, описанных в Евангелии. В центре композиции представлено Рождество Христово: по свету путеводной звезды направляются три всадника - восточных царя (волхва); ангел передает весть о рождении Христа пастухам. Внизу показаны Иосиф и старик в звериной шкуре, а также сцена омовения Младенца. В живописной манере можно проследить черты, присущие работам Андрея Рублева (начало XV в.). Московский мастер обратился к наследию этого великого древнерусского художника спустя более 100 лет после его смерти, что было характерным для всей московской школы. Отличительной чертой иконы является редко встречаемый в русской иконописи голубой фон.
