Description
English: During World War I, many Americans citizens volunteered with the Lafayette Flying Corps to serve as volunteer pilots and observers in French combat squadrons. In April 1916, the most famous American squadron, N124 "Escadrille Americaine," was established. Once America entered the war in 1917, many of the American volunteers were folded into the Army Air Service's 103rd Aero Squadron.
