Description

Fort Bowie National Historic Site

Katydid on Morning Dew was taken in the Chiricahua Mountains at Fort Bowie National Historic Site in Southeast Arizona. This area is known as The Sky Islands. Located at crossroads between four major ecosystems; The Rocky Mountains, Sierra Madre, Sonoran Desert, and Chihuahuan Desert, the sky islands special environment result in extraordinary biodiversity. These islands display characteristics of five world biomes: Desert, Grasslands, Chaparral, Deciduous Forest, and Coniferous Forest. in these mountains, the characteristics mix together to create a unique mosaic of environments.
