Description
English: A carte de viste of the "National Sanitary Cake" with U.S. Flags with word "Union" and date of 1865. Photo card credited on back to Hugh Anderson, Eureka, Humboldt County, California. No assertion of copyright on original. Anderson's studio was at G between 2nd and 3rd streets in Eureka when this photo was taken. The cake was auctioned to benefit the American Sanitary Commission which took care of injured soldiers and their families. See this book for more details.
