Summary[edit]

Description

This is a jeton commemorating the coronation of Napoleon. Jetons are tokens that are used as counters or money subsitutes in games, much like casino chips.

The obverse is a laureate bust of Napoleon with the text "Napoleon Empereur". The reverse has the text "COURONNE L. 11 FRIM AN XIII" which translates to "Crowned the 11th of Frimaire, year 13". Frimaire is one of the months of the Republican Calendar so this date corresponds to December 2, 1804.
