Description
Deutsch: Die Mainzer Nagelsäule in der Nähe des Doms ist das Ergebnis einer großen Spendenaktion während des Ersten Weltkriegs, die vom damaligen Bürgermeister Dr. Karl Emil Göttelmann ins Leben gerufen wurde. Der Grund für diese Spendenaktion waren die zunehmenden Versorgungsengpässe während des Krieges.
English: The Mainz nail column near the cathedral is the result of a large fundraiser during the First World War, which was initiated by the then mayor Dr. Karl Emil Göttelmann was launched. The reason for this fundraiser was the increasing supply shortages during the war.
