Description
English: A night luminous cloud, luminous night cloud or noctilucent cloud (international abbreviation NLC) is the highest cloud on Earth. It appears in the summer months in high latitudes at an altitude of 76 to 85 kilometers, at deep dusk when the sun is below the horizon, and the cloud is still illuminated by the sun and of course just before dawn. It is golden or reddish-brown near the horizon, and more in the sky blue-white, occasionally crimson. It is believed to consist of ice crystals, volcanic ash or meteor dust. Night shining clouds rarely appear over Croatia. Comet C / 2020 F3 (NEOWISE) can be seen on the right and its reflection in the sea.
