Summary[edit]

Description

Stamp of Nicaragua; 1984; airmail stamp of the series "Paintings by Correggio"; stamp motive with a detail from the painting "Madonna and Child with Sts Jerome and Mary Magdalen (The Day)" by Antonio Allegri da Correggio (1489-1534); The depicted figure on the stamp is generally described as an angel, however the description to this stamp is calling "Ganimed" as child figure with book. However, there is no evidence that Correggio has mixed antique mythology and Christian contents in his paintings. The second woman in this painting (right) shall be Mary Magdalene or the Saint Catherine (other authors).; However that be, the depicted painting was created between 1525 and 1528 in the style of the Italian Renaissance and is actual located in the "Galleria nazionale di Parma" in Parma (Italy).; stamp postmarked
