Robert Serena (left), of the North Carolina National Guard’s 1452nd Combat Heavy Equipment Transportation Company is given a plaque in appreciation for his strength and perseverance in overcoming extreme hardship as a suicide survivor, presented by Army Capt. Laura Dodson, Sexual Assault Consultant for Joint Services Support (right) at NCNG Joint Force Headquarters in Raleigh, N.C., Sept. 10, 2013. The North Carolina National Guard hosted their 3rd Annual Gratitude Walk for Suicide Prevention Month in observance of Suicide Prevention. This public event was part of the NCNG’s efforts to increase education and awareness for suicide prevention among soldier, airmen, family members, and our community.
