English: Mysterious mound, off Main Street, Shawell This is looking from a point just to the left of the green box in the photograph of the bridge over the stream opposite the Manor House. I thought the mound must be a castle motte but it is not marked on the OS map, not even at 1:10,000 scale. There is a motte next to the church to the south. |
