Two Women Jurors Sit In Murder Trial. Murrano, Accused of Killing Detective McGinn, Again in the Prisoner's' Dock. Evidence Much the Same as When He Was Convicted of First Degree Crime. Selection of jurors in the trial of Christopher Murrano, accused of murder, was completed yesterday afternoon, and before a jury, composed of ten men and two women, the Commonwealth began the presentation of testimony, The two women, Miss Lillian Cruickshank, of 3206 Baring street, selected Monday, and Miss Ruth Cunningham, a clerk, of 1429 Ritner street, are the first to sit in a jury in a case in which a verdict of first degree murder will be asked. Miss Cunningham was the tenth juror selected, having been accepted after she had said she had no conscientious scruples against capital punishment. Judge Monaghan was on the bench in the Court of Oyer and Terminer when James Gay Gordon, Jr., Assistant District Attorney, began his address to the jury. The testimony to be offered he said was virtually the same as was presented last spring when Murrano was convicted of first degree murder in connection with the death of Detective Joseph McGinn, of the Second and Christian streets station. McGinn was fatally shot when he raided a gambling house at Eighth street and Passyunk avenue, and found the gamblers being held up by gunmen. The shooting occurred October 2, 1920. Following Murrano's conviction last spring, his petition for a new trial was granted. It is this trial that is now in progress. Besides the four jurors selected on Monday, the following were picked yesterday: Miss Cunningham, James McBride, 3023 Thompson street; William Ross, 1250 East Columbia avenue; John L. Cunningham, 2132 Columbia avenue; Walter Rosewaren, 5109 Richmond street; Robert Boyce, 1427 North Front street; F. W. Fischer, Jr., 2425 Moore street, and John E. Leonard, 1801 South Fifty-seventh street. The case will be resumed This morning. Following the adjournment last evening Miss Cruickshank expressed pleasure over the selection of Miss Cunningham as a companion juror, for she asserted that Monday night spent alone in her compartment of the jury room was far from enjoyable. She had no combs, brushes, powder, manicuring implements or any of the other articles necessary to the feminine toilet, and she made a request yesterday that some be provided for her.
