Summary[edit]
| Description |
English: Mountain Hare Not a pet rabbit, but a Mountain (or Blue) Hare in its winter coat ! It was desperately trying to blend into the background on the snowless hillside (and at a height of 650m in Feb, you might expect some snow). It remained motionless until after the photo was taken before running off. Usually they are away as soon as you stumble across them. The winter coat is not only for camouflage but is also designed to be warmer than the brown summer coat. The ears are the only part that don't change colour. |
