Opis vrste

D.t. 15–16 cm. Gnezdeći areal obuhvata gotovo celu Evropu, severnu, umerenu i centralnu Aziju do obala Tihog okeana, Malu Aziju i delove Bliskog Istoka, Aljaske i severne Afrike. Poznato je preko 20 podvrsta, koje se povremeno mešaju. Selica je na većem delu areala. Zimu provodi u podsaharskoj Africi i južnoj Aziji. Naseljava livade, pašnjake, močvare, stepe i poljoprivredna područja sa očuvanim fragmentima travnatih staništa, od mediteranskih ravnica do planinskih stepa i tundri na severu. Gnezda gradi na zemlji. Hrani se sitnim beskičmenjacima koje pronalazi na tlu. Evropska populacija blago opada. U Srbiji je populacija stabilna i procenjuje se na 18.000–23.000 parova (Puzović et al 2003). Na gnežđenju su prisutne dve podvrste (M. f. flava i M. f. feldegg).
