| Description |
English: Moorgreen reservoir A family of swans has just taken flight from the water. The reservoir is full after prolonged periods of heavy rain, and on this grey, windy day waves were lapping on the shore. The water was very brown with sediment washed down from the surrounding hills by the swollen streams which feed it.
Moorgreen reservoir was constructed at the end of the 18th century to supply water to the local Nottingham, Erewash and Cromford canals. It is now a popular venue for walking, birdwatching and fishing. |
