Description
Español: El Monumento a los ocho estudiantes de Medicina en homenaje a los ocho estudiantes de Medicina fusilados en La Habana en 1871 acusados de haber ultrajado la tumba del periodista español Gonzalo Castañón. La construcción del monumento se llevó a cabo por parte de una comisión creada el 15 de febrero de 1887, bajo la presidencia de Valdés Domínguez. Con la suscripción pública se recaudaron 25 mil pesos y otros 5 mil fueron aportados por dos hermanas de uno de los estudiantes fusilados.
