Description

Monumento integrado Largo da Sé, retrata o homenageado num busto de bronze a impor-se ao espectador sobre um pedestal de pedra.

Apresenta um carácter naturalista, no seguimento das linhas do realismo oitocentista que marcaram a obra do artista. 

Historial:

O monumento promovido pela Câmara Municipal de Castelo Branco, com a data de 1939 (inscrita no pedestal), pretende homenagear o Dr. Manuel Vaz Preto Geraldes (1828 – 1902), nasceu em Castelo Branco e morreu na Lousã. Bacharel pela Universidade de Coimbra, foi par do reino e uma importante personalidade política do séc. XIX, exercendo grande influencia para construção do caminho-de-ferro da Beira Baixa com passagem por Castelo Branco.
