Description
English: Monument to the scholar and religious Isidoro of Seville in the Plaza de Juan XXIII of the Spanish city of Cartagena. The work was created by the sculptor Manuel Ardil Pagán in 1996, and consists of a white marble block from which the head of Isidoro emerges, head-dressed a mitre, and an arm on which he holds his Etymologiae. The block also contains the Latin inscription of a quote from Ildefonsus of Toledo, and the signature of Ardil Pagán.
Español: Monumento al erudito y religioso Isidoro de Sevilla en la plaza de Juan XXIII de la ciudad española de Cartagena. La obra fue creada por el escultor Manuel Ardil Pagán en 1996, y consiste en un bloque de mármol blanco del que emerge la cabeza de Isidoro, tocada por una mitra, y un brazo en el que sostiene sus Etimologías. El bloque contiene además la inscripción en latín de una cita de Ildefonso de Toledo, y la firma de Ardil Pagán.
