Add a one-line explanation of what this file represents
Description The old Cathar fortress perched atop a huge 1200m [3,000 ft] 'pog' [rock] in Ariège, Languedoc, south-west France. The original fortress was a stronghold of the Cathar [Albigensian] heretic in the HIgh Middle Ages. The Pope and the Kings of France pursued a brutal 'crusade' against them, culminating in the siege and capture of Montsegur in 1244. A couple of hundred Cathars were burned en masse at the foot of the pog. The current Castèl is 17th century.
