| Description |
English: Built in 1907 as the first purpose-built hospital in Danville by Doctor Fayette H. Montgomery, this Classical Revival-style building was utilized until 1916, when a public hospital, now known as the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, was constructed at the edge of downtown. Subsequently converted into an apartment building, it was gutted and renovated in 2000, before being purchased by Centre College. The building features a hipped roof and red brick exterior, quoins, stone lintels and sills, a protruding front entrance with an arched transom and decorative cornice, a wood-frame side addition over a porch, and a rough-hewn stone base. The building is a contributing structure in the Lexington Avenue-Broadway Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. |
