Attorney Ernest Wright speaks to dozens at the 25th Annual Montford Point Marine Heritage dinner dance at the Montford Point Marine Association 10th Chapter in Jacksonville, N.C., Feb. 9. Wright was invited to be a guest speaker, making references to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as Rosa Parks in honor of the Montford Point Marines sacrifice between 1942 and 1949. In 1974, Montford Point was formally renamed Camp Johnson in honor of Sgt. Maj. Gilbert Johnson, a drill instructor who served in WWII and the Korean War. |
