Summary[edit]

Description New York District's Drift Collection Vessel Hayward picked up this monstrous piece of drift Friday July 26, 2013 while patrolling in and around New York Harbor searching for drift and debris that could potentially be hazardous to navigation. The crew identified the drift as potentially part of an abandoned wooden barge. The piece is about 5,000 cubic feet and weighs in the neighborhood of 16 to 18 tons.
