Description
Français : Eléments de décor d'un minbar - Espagne (Cordoue) - 1137 - Louvre - 74.1969.5.1-5 - Dépôt du musée du quai Branly - Bois de buis sculpté, ivoire. Le cartel indique : Ces cinq polygones appartenaient au décor d’une chaire à prêcher (minbar) construite à Cordoue à partir de 1137, sur ordre de l’émir almoravide ‘Ali ibn Yusuf. Destiné à la grande mosquée de la nouvelle capitale de l’empire, ce chef-d’œuvre témoigne des échanges culturels qui marquent alors l’Occident islamique. Elle a ensuite été transférée à la mosquée Kutubiyya par les souverains almohades ; le meuble se trouve aujourd’hui au palais Badi à Marrakech.
